buckets of illness

The stomach flu is yet again making its' rounds through our small household. Liv, evidently, has a stronger immune system than Briar and me since the duration of her illness was marked by hours, not days. Briar gets ill, bounces back, and then gets sick again. It is amazing to me how kids can do that. Act all normal and chipper until the bucket is actually under their nose and then run away laughing again afterward.
I, other the other hand, feel like shit. I am pleased that this most recent ailment (we seem to get sick far more often than the general population) didn't hit me full bore until the kids were on the mend (holding back someone else's hair whille ralphing in the same bucket is close to impossible). BUT feeling like you'd prefer death over the squeals and laughter as little ones jump on your bed while you lay prone and covered in your own filth is not a happy occurrance either.
My mom came over night and whisked the kids off to playgrounds, Tim Horton's, swimming and other sought after locales so I at least don't feel that they were neglected at all. In fact, Briar wanted to go home with her rather than stay here with me and my vomit receptacle.
But now, I am here to entertain, feed and stand mostly upright while fighting off the urge to close my eyes and long for one of those flashes of light and a quick replay of my life's events before being whisked off to some cloud-filled utopia.
I so fucking hate doing this alone.

I am so sorry you feel yucky! The flu is the worst too. I told my mom the other day that being the mom is the hardest when you have to be the one cleaning up puke and there is no one to do it for you! Hope you feel better soon, sweetie!

Jackie you deserve an award for managing on your own. We have had that same terrible flu here and now that it is finally gone my brother in law (who is staying with us this weekend) got it and I'm just hoping it doesn't spread around to the rest of us again.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Jackie,
I had the flu a while back and thought of you while I hung my head, knowing you have been dealing with so many physical trials while grieving and mothering. Pretty shitty deal.

And another thing, not quite so empathtic but....I wanted to let you know that Ponch could not have been your boyfriend, way back when, because he was MINE!

xo and big love, Tanis
See ya at the farm soon!

Being sick sucks and even more so when you are enduring all the other bereavement issues as well. You're exhausted both physically and emotionally and unfortunately that wreaks havoc on your immune system. It sucks but it is completely, infuriatingly normal!

I have been sick almost every 3 weeks since David died. It sucks unbelievably and I wonder when my body is going to get it together enough so I am no longer taken down by every stray bug that crosses my path!

But take care of and be kind to yourself. I wish there was something more I could do from across the miles. But just know that many of us are out there thinking of you and sending you love and strength. Be well…
