We got two more chicks yesterday. They're big enough that they don't fit through the coup mesh...and into Freckles waiting jaws.
We've taken three of our four roosters to Penny's to live. I think we should by a lottery ticket or something. What are the chances of getting four roosters out of five chicks? I've kept the quietest and sweetest rooster for just a little longer so our one chicken, Lucy, doesn't get lonely. I hope the chicks are in fact, chickens and not infant roosters...
I saw this guy the other day. His poor shoulder was looking rather sore. I ho pe he's okay....but not willing to get close enough to check it out. *snicker*

Glad to hear that you feel a little better. Buy a lottery ticket anyway. You never know..... :0)
Love your pictures. Man do I miss Canada .....
You don't know me. I found your blog through Matt's. I'm glad you're feeling a little better today. Go easy on yourself. And you're NOT a crappy parent. Everyone has those moments when they feel insane. Your kids know that you love them.
yipes that does look sore.. I hope it isn't a graze wound.
on the sunshine coast here- we loose Way too many bears to human over reaction.
there are bears- they were here first..
there is a bear aware program- but I am not so sure it has made much difference to how many we loose to the trigger happy.
sad.
I know it is scary to come across a bear.. but we choose to live here.. know what I mean?
hope he was okay
and I am glad your day sounded nice! yay for new life..
but boo missing on a sweetneck.
If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.
(Hardly seems worth it.)
If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.
(Now that's more like it!)
The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to
the body to squirt blood 30 feet.
(O.M.G.!)
A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes.
(In my next life, I want to be a pig.)
A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.)
(I'm still not over the pig.)
Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.
(Do not try this at home....... maybe at work.)
The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.
("Honey, I'm home. What the....?!")
The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.
(30 minutes... lucky pig.... can you imagine??)
The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.
(What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)
Some lions mate over 50 times a day.
(I still want to be a pig in my next life...quality over quantity)
Butterflies taste with their feet.
(Something I always wanted to know.)
The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.
Hmmmmmm........)
Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people.
(If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)
Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump.
(OK, so that would be a good thing....)
A cat's urine glows under a black light.
(I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.
(I know some people like that.)
Starfish have no brains.
(I know some people like that too.)
Polar bears are left-handed.
(If they switch, they'll live a lot longer.)
Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.
(What about that pig??)
I hope this brought at least one smile to your day, I am glad you had a not so bad day today . . .
Cool gumboots, yummy chocolates, and BIG HUGZ

I've been down this road. Try and do something fun and nice and it ends with a meltdown from one or both kids. Its a fact of life with kids I suppose, albeit frustrating to say the least. You are a great mom that had a bad afternoon. I have too many of these to count.
I am a recent reader from Matt's blog as well, and can't believe the timing of both Jeff and Liz's passing. I can't even pretend to know what you are going through, but admire your strength, honesty and outpourings here. Your pictures are beautiful, as are you and your children.
I hope this finds you on an up day.
Namaste.
I found your blog through Matt. I just wanted to say my thoughts are with you.
I told Matt this and someone told me it when my son died. It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger. You will. It may take a long time but you do.
I'll come back and visit.
